Good morning friends. Today, my mom is seeing a specialist at UVA to try and get to the bottom of her hearing/loss dizziness. This saga has been going on since December 10th (her first doctor’s appt) and she has been so incredibly strong throughout the whole process. I can’t imagine not being able to hear, get around with out the assistance of a walker or on a GOOD day, a cane even in your own home. To have your independence stripped from you all of a sudden and no longer be able to run to the store if you run out of bread or make your weekly trip to the library for books (my mom has subsequently read EVERY book in the house and started on round two even though she hates to re-read books. Or watch movies over and over again…anywhoo).
In addition to all of this, Mom has been at my grandparents all week so they could help be her transportaion for some dental work–she had to be at the docs Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesday, her big toe had this blister on it that started getting infected and turned really dark. She ended up in the UTC and got some antibiotics. By Saturday, it wasn’t any better, so she was at the ER on Valentine’s Day. 😦 After a bunch of tests were ran, X-rays taken it was determined she has a cellulitis infection in her toe–she needs to stay off of it, soak it and keep it elevated. Hard to do when you have a pretty long drive to UVA and then will be in and out a lot getting to and fro. (Yes, I just said to and fro).
Needless to say, my mom was exhausted after being at the doctor or dentist 5 out of 6 days last week and now is on to the specialist today. Her appointment is at 9:30 and if you wouldn’t mind, I’d really appreciate it if you’d say a qiuck prayer. Thanks friends!
